Operation of Systems Task in the ACS

This chapter covers the primary systems found on most aircraft. These include the engine, propeller, induction, ignition, as well as the fuel, lubrication, cooling, electrical, landing gear, and environmental control systems.
Objective
To determine that the applicant exhibits satisfactory knowledge, risk management, and skills associated with the safe operation of systems on the airplane provided for the flight test.
Knowledge
The applicant demonstrates understanding of:
Airplane systems, to include:
Note: If K1 is selected, the evaluator must assess the applicant’s knowledge of at least three of the following sub-elements.
Primary flight controls
Secondary flight controls
Powerplant and propeller
Landing gear
Fuel, oil, and hydraulic
Electrical
Avionics
Pitot-static, vacuum/pressure, and associated flight instruments
Environmental
Deicing and anti-icing
Water rudders (ASES, AMES)
Oxygen system
Indications of and procedures for managing system abnormalities or failures.
Risk Management
The applicant demonstrates the ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks, encompassing:
Failure to detect system malfunctions or failures.
Improper management of a system failure.
Failure to monitor and manage automated systems.
Skills
The applicant demonstrates the ability to:
Operate at least three of the systems listed in K1a through K1l above appropriately.

This website is in the very early stages of development at the moment. While I'm currently working on pulling information from the Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge my next goal will be to process information from all the documents referenced in the private pilot’s Airman Certification Standards. So, please come back as I'll regularly be providing you with more and more information.
